SHORT FORMS

SHORT POETRY FORMS I HAVE CREATED & PROMOTED

This page illustrates the fun involved to write' poetic form especially suitable for introducing an indigenous short poetic form, developed and created from within, the English language literary culture.
       ****************
EMILY

EMILY the form

emily form is a 2(or sometimes 3) line paradox form (I labelled it thus,as it was inspired by Emily Dickinson poem 1732).It may or may not have a title, uses a word with separate meanings,(or one that sounds the same, with a different spelling) with the intention to mean several things, therby to enhance the thought's ambiguity/enigma. ED 1732 begins: My life closed twice- before it's close and from SHAKESPEARE's Romeo & Juliet: ask for me tomorrow- and you will find a grave man and my 'emily' is free by a sacrifice- a sacrifice for free

DARYUSH

This triplet sequence 6/5/3 I so labelled after 'Accidentedal' by Elizabeth Darush(1887-1977)

it encapsulates a complete thought of sentence, with a measured ending on a single topic

Just for a moment, wait hesitate and dream ... and receive Step outside the box imagination cries ... to be freed, Unshackled ,awaken conception's can-do, ... make believe; Experiment and try the novel ,unique .. lies in you, Just for a moment, don't hesitate ,let it ... formulate

EMBLEM POEM
an emblem poem, with a crude picture of an everyday scene, underwhich is a motto- followed by the poem.which is to teach, rather like a parable. This example of my was inspired by George Herbert's The Churche-Floore

Emblem-The Church Wall Look there,do you see the wall of red brick each upon the other: leans with great care. One joined evenly next to the other bonded together in equality: Participating in their purposes combining ,each their strengths the load to share: Weathered with the storms of life on its face enduring through eternity:

TETRACTYS

The challenge with the RAY STEBBING tetractys form is that each line is required 'to stand on its own '

and yet

the poem is to express a complete thought, within the narrow compass of the 20 syllables.

as below Eye poems displaying a shapely form, exempting audition from needless stress.

VVV (visual vertical verse) is inspired by A R Ammons 'Cleavage 'and 'Chasm ' poetry ,published in 1990) To this gap poetic form I have now applied a new convenient label , VVV .

ENGLYN Note on form:ENGLYN a quatrain from Welsh poetry of 30 syllables in four lines 10,6,7,7.The sixth syllable of line one annouces the rhyme, the last syllable of succeeding three lines rhyme with it.(The final syllable of line one is without rhyme). The content often has an enigmatic quality.

Her love was like a rose, with no perfume. Dressed in very fine clothes passion she could not propose, brought the romance to a close.
